How this list is used

Reading for Fetal Radiology

Fetal radiology fellows work to protocol first: the ISUOG practice guidelines define what has to be documented in a first-trimester, anomaly or growth scan, and most Indian units build their reporting templates directly from them. Callen's is the standard text read alongside the daily scan list, and the Elsevier Diagnostic Imaging volume is used at the machine for rapid differential lists when an anomaly appears mid-scan. Twining's and the Paladini atlas are the books people go to when a specific malformation needs prognostic detail for counselling, which in India often has to be done in the same sitting given PCPNDT timelines. Rumack stays on the shelf as the general ultrasound reference for physics, artefacts and non-obstetric findings.

The exit examination

What you are reading towards

The exit examination is the FEE - Fellowship Exit Examination, held after completion of the fellowship training. Theory: one paper of 100 marks (10 questions of 10 marks each) of three hours' duration. Practical: 300 marks, comprising clinical examination and viva voce. A candidate must obtain a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate across theory and practical (200 of 400) to qualify, with the theory paper itself to be passed at 50/100. Trainees must also appear in the formative assessment during training. Successful candidates are awarded the FNB (or FNB-PD) at the annual NBEMS convocation.
