Build morphology and vocabulary fast with Habif plus daily OPD case documentation and clinical photography; read IADVL cover to cover for the Indian disease spectrum. Learn the bench procedures - KOH, Tzanck, slit-skin smear, Gram stain - early. Finalise the thesis protocol.
Read Bolognia systematically as the main text, using Rook and Fitzpatrick for depth on specific diseases. Cover venereology with Holmes plus current NACO guidelines, leprosy with the IAL textbook plus NLEP, and start dermatopathology with Weedon. Learn dermatosurgery, lasers and phototherapy hands-on.
Revise Bolognia and IADVL against previous DNB theory papers with timed answers, and maintain a separate list of recent therapeutics - biologics, JAK inhibitors, current guidelines. Do structured practical drilling: long cases, short cases, dermoscopy, histopathology slides, instruments and bench procedures.

Rook's Textbook of Dermatology by Griffiths C, Barker J, Bleiker T, Hussain W, Simpson R (eds) is the usual anchor. The reference of first resort for disease detail; read by chapter as cases come in, not front to back.
